Speaking on social media platform X, Wamuchomba described Gachagua as a political strategist, suggesting that he is already maneuvering toward a symbolic handshake with the President. “Rigathi Gachagua ni political genius, hesabu yake inaingiana. He’s warming up for a handshake with President Ruto na apate billions zake aende N’gambo,” she wrote, implying that Gachagua’s moves are deliberate and aimed at securing strategic benefits for himself and his camp.
Wamuchomba, a vocal and influential lawmaker, also shared her own role in what she termed the unfolding negotiations.
She framed herself as the person who would facilitate the handshake, using playful language to signal confidence and readiness.
“Lakini niliwaambia. Riggy G atanipata kitchen kwa Ruto, chai ya handshake ni mimi nitamserve na ile smile,” she wrote, highlighting her visibility and influence in the political space during delicate reconciliation talks.
Beyond the political theatre, Wamuchomba stressed the importance of prioritizing development over political disputes.
She called for leaders to temporarily suspend quarrels, urging them to focus on tangible projects that benefit communities.
“Wacheni matusi kwa sasa, tuwekewe lami, na tupate share yetu ya development. Wakisalimiana tuwe tumeomoka, angalao tusivae gumboots huku kwetu tena,” she said, using a local proverb to convey that cooperation should outweigh personal grievances, at least in practical matters affecting citizens.
The requiem mass brought Ruto and Gachagua face-to-face in Nyandarua County, in what quickly became both a solemn occasion and a subtle political stage.

Despite calls from some quarters for Gachagua to stay away, he attended with his team, led by Nyandarua Senator John Methu. His presence reinforced his commitment to honoring the late MP while simultaneously asserting his political relevance in the Mt Kenya region.
