According to authorities, the incident was reported after the child’s mother raised alarm over the sudden death of her son, a Grade One pupil at Kaloleni Primary School.
Preliminary reports indicate that the boy left home on April 10 at around 10 a.m. to play with friends within the neighborhood.
However, he later returned home at approximately 8:30 p.m. with visible injuries on his head and right thumb, raising concern.
When his mother questioned him about what had happened, the child reportedly declined to explain the source of the injuries and instead said he was tired and wanted to sleep.
Despite noticing the injuries, the mother proceeded to bathe and feed him before he went to bed, hoping he would recover.
However, a few hours later at around 11 p.m., the situation took a worrying turn when the boy complained of severe stomach pain. Alarmed by his condition, the mother rushed him to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for emergency medical attention.
Sadly, doctors at the facility pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police officers who visited the hospital observed that the child’s body had visible injuries on the head, chest, and left thumb, deepening the mystery surrounding his death.
Authorities say the exact circumstances under which the boy sustained the injuries remain unknown, and investigators are now working to piece together his movements between the time he left home and when he returned.
The scene linked to the incident has since been processed, and the child’s body moved to the hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Detectives have also begun interviewing potential witnesses, including neighbors and other children who may have been playing with him earlier that day.
The tragic incident has shocked residents of Buruburu, with many calling for swift investigations to uncover the truth and ensure justice is served.
Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward as efforts to unravel the mystery continue
