Kisii Church Bishop, 31, Murdered, Body Found Lying On His Back in a Swamp

Police in Kisii County have launched investigations into a suspected murder after the body of a 31-year-old man was discovered dumped in a farm under unclear circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Geoffrey Ombui Oyugi. His body was found on April 11, 2026, at around noon in Mogumo Village, located in Igonga Division.

According to police reports, the discovery was made in a swampy area within Keboye South Sub-location, Bomariba Location, raising immediate suspicion among residents.

Officers who visited the scene found the body lying on its back, partially submerged in the swamp. Preliminary observations revealed a visible stab wound on the right side of the backbone, strongly pointing to foul play.

Authorities believe the circumstances surrounding the death suggest the man may have been attacked elsewhere before his body was dumped at the scene.

The body was later moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have since commenced investigations to establish what transpired leading to the man’s death and to identify those responsible for the suspected murder.

Detectives are also appealing to members of the public to share any information that could assist in the probe, as efforts intensify to piece together the victim’s final movements.

The incident adds to growing concerns over rising cases of violent crime in different parts of the country.

Law enforcement agencies say while some cases have been successfully solved, many others remain under active investigation.

Residents in the area have expressed fear following the discovery, urging authorities to enhance security and ensure justice for the victim.

Police have assured the public that all leads are being pursued and that those involved will be brought to book once investigations are complete.
