Gachagua Wants to Indoctrinate Us Into Believing Ruto Is ‘WanTam,’ But Where’s the Plan? - Ngunjiri

Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has taken a swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying the Mount Kenya region needs a serious development plan instead of empty slogans about WanTam and Tutam.

Wambugu said Gachagua is misleading the community by painting President William Ruto as WanTam—a phrase used to suggest that Ruto will remain in power for two more years.

Wambugu warned that this form of politics does not answer the real question of how Mount Kenya residents will benefit during this period.

According to him, Gachagua is simply using emotional appeals to gain sympathy after being sidelined in government.

He argued that Gachagua wants the community to rally behind him because he was fired, yet he has not shown any clear roadmap for the region.

“Gachagua wants us to focus on his misfortune and believe that if he was dismissed, then Ruto too must be punished.

But meanwhile, our people continue paying taxes and leaders from our backyard are still serving in government. Where is the plan that secures our region’s interests?” Wambugu asked.

The former legislator went on to say that politics is unpredictable. While Gachagua may push the idea of Ruto as WanTam, there is no guarantee that things will remain that way.

“Anything can happen in politics,” he noted, adding that if Ruto eventually becomes Tutam—a term implying a longer stay in power—Mount Kenya risks being locked out of real benefits for up to seven years if it lacks a strategy.

Wambugu challenged intellectuals, business leaders, and politicians from the region to step forward and craft a practical roadmap.

He stressed that whether Ruto serves for two years or seven more years, the community should not sit idle.

“This is not about slogans or survival politics. It is about ensuring Mount Kenya people benefit in terms of development, jobs, and resources. We must think beyond personalities,” he added.
