“Nimechoka Kuwa Single”: Bungoma Man, 27, Sparks Debate After Listing Partner Requirements, Says She ‘Must Have Finished Form Four’

A 27-year-old man from Bungoma County has stirred conversation online after publicly announcing that he is searching for a life partner and sharing the specific qualities he wants in a woman.

Speaking on Valentine’s Day, when many couples were celebrating love, the man identified as Wafula said he spent the day alone and decided it was time to find a serious relationship.

He revealed that his previous relationship ended in October 2025, leaving him frustrated with single life.

According to Wafula, he is now emotionally ready to settle down and build a stable future with the right person.

He described himself as financially stable and capable of supporting a partner who is committed to a long-term relationship.

“I am tired of being single. I want companionship and someone we can grow together with,” he said.

However, it was his list of requirements that quickly caught the attention of social media users.

Wafula stated that his ideal partner should be 27 years old and must have completed Form Four.

He explained that education was important to him because he wants someone who can understand responsibilities and life goals.

In addition, he noted that his family prefers a partner from outside the Kikuyu and Kamba communities, a condition that triggered mixed reactions online.

While some people supported his honesty and said everyone has a right to personal preferences, others criticized the criteria, especially the tribal limitation, terming it discriminatory and unnecessary in modern relationships.

Relationship experts say that while individuals are free to set standards, focusing too much on rigid conditions may limit chances of finding genuine love.

“Compatibility, character, and shared values matter more than strict background requirements,” one commentator noted in the discussion.

Wafula, however, defended his decision, saying he is only being clear about what he wants to avoid wasting time.

His story comes at a time when more young people are openly turning to social media and public platforms to search for partners, reflecting changing trends in modern dating.

In a similar case earlier, another Kenyan man went viral after announcing that he was looking for a financially stable older woman to marry, also sparking debate about expectations in relationships.
