“We Will Deal With You,” Babu Owino Warns Oburu and These Senior ODM Leaders

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has sparked fresh debate within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after issuing a stern warning to some of the party’s senior leaders, accusing them of resisting change and attempting to undermine younger politicians.

Speaking to his supporters, Owino openly criticized the party’s old guard, specifically mentioning Oburu Oginga, whom he accused of working behind the scenes to weaken his influence within the party.

The outspoken legislator said he would not allow any efforts to sideline him or block his political ambitions.

Owino emphasized that the party must adapt to changing political realities if it hopes to remain relevant, arguing that young leaders and new ideas should be given space.

According to him, attempts to maintain control by a small group of senior figures risk alienating supporters and weakening the party’s future prospects.

“I will not tolerate schemes meant to silence or sideline me,” Owino told his audience, warning that those working against him politically should expect a response.

His remarks, widely shared online, have drawn mixed reactions from supporters and critics alike.

Sources within ODM indicate that tensions between Owino and some senior party figures have been building for months.

The disagreements are said to revolve around internal decision-making, political strategy, and the role of emerging leaders within the party structure.

Political observers say the dispute reflects a broader generational divide that is becoming more visible in several political parties across Kenya.

Younger politicians are increasingly pushing for greater influence, while established leaders seek to maintain stability and continuity within party ranks.

Analysts note that Owino’s strong statements could reshape internal dynamics in ODM if the disagreements escalate or lead to open political contests.

However, they also caution that internal disputes, if not managed carefully, can weaken party unity ahead of future elections.

Although Oburu Oginga was singled out in Owino’s remarks, the MP indicated that his message was directed at all leaders he believes are resisting reform. He insisted that accountability should apply to everyone in the party, regardless of age or seniority.

Despite the sharp tone of his comments, some party supporters have called for dialogue and reconciliation, arguing that unity remains essential for ODM’s strength in national politics.

Others, however, believe the debate over leadership and generational change is inevitable as the political landscape evolves.
