Disturbing CCTV Footage Exposes the Moment a Taxi Driver Escaped From Thieves at 2.00 a.m.

Residents in Eldoret have been left shocked after a disturbing CCTV clip surfaced online showing how a taxi driver narrowly escaped from suspected thieves in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The incident, which reportedly happened shortly after 2.00 a.m., has raised fresh concerns about the safety of drivers who work at night.

According to details seen in the footage, the driver was heading home along a quiet residential road at around 2:18 a.m.

The street appeared deserted, with no pedestrians or other vehicles in sight. The calm environment, however, quickly turned tense when a motorcycle carrying three men approached from behind.

At first, the driver seemed unaware that he was being followed. The motorcycle then accelerated and moved closer, appearing to attempt to block the vehicle near a gate. It was at this moment that the driver realized something was wrong.

In a quick reaction that many viewers have described as brave and smart, the driver immediately reversed his car, narrowly avoiding the suspected attackers.

The sudden move appeared to confuse the men on the motorcycle, giving the driver a crucial chance to escape.

The suspects reportedly tried to follow him for a short distance, but the driver managed to reach a main road and sped away to safety. No injuries were reported, and the driver is said to be safe, though shaken by the incident.

The CCTV footage has since circulated widely on social media, attracting strong reactions from the public.

Many people praised the driver for remaining calm under pressure, noting that panic could have led to a different outcome.

Others expressed concern over the growing risks faced by taxi drivers, boda boda operators, and other night workers.

Security experts often advise motorists traveling late at night to remain alert, avoid isolated routes where possible, and keep doors locked at all times. They also encourage drivers to trust their instincts and leave immediately if they sense danger.

Residents in Eldoret are now calling for increased police patrols, improved street lighting, and stronger community policing to deter criminals who target motorists during late hours.

Some taxi operators have also urged their colleagues to share real-time locations with trusted contacts while on duty.
