What a Man Did to His Pregnant Wife at Night Before He Died By Suicide in Bomet

A tragic sequence of events has shaken Bomet County following the death of a young teacher and the subsequent suicide of the man suspected to have killed her while in police custody.

The incident has left families grieving and raised serious concerns over domestic violence and femicide in the

33-year-old Caroline Chepkoech Ngetich, who was a junior secondary school teacher at Cheptagum School, died under circumstances that were initially reported as an accident.

She was later found through a postmortem examination to have suffered severe spinal and neck injuries consistent with assault.

Medical findings also confirmed that she was one month pregnant at the time of her death.

Her partner, Anthony Njenga Kariuki, who was of the same age, was arrested after investigations contradicted his earlier explanation that she had fallen in the bathroom.

He was arraigned in court and remanded in custody for further investigations.

Hours later police officers conducting routine checks discovered that Kariuki had taken his own life inside the cells at Longisa Police Station.

Authorities reported that he used clothing material to end his life.

His body was transferred to the same mortuary where that of the deceased teacher was being held ahead of burial.

Family members have demanded thorough investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding both deaths.

Education unions have also expressed concern, noting that the teacher had recently been confirmed as a permanent employee and had shown great promise in her career.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing as the county grapples with a rise in violent domestic incidents involving female educators.
