The battle to succeed Kisumu County Governor Prof Anyang Nyong'o is continuing to take shape with area Women Representative Ruth Odinga being the latest to join the race.
Ruth who is the sister of ODM party leader Dr Oburu Oginga and former Prime Minister the late Raila Odinga, is bidding to takeover the leadership of the lakeside city from Prof Nyong'o who is serving his second and final term.
The fiery legislator succeeded Kisumu Town West MP Rosa Buyu as Kisumu County Women Representative.
In 2013, Ruth was elected as the first Deputy Governor of Kisumu after her joint ticket with Jackson Ranguma won the race.
She would later serve as special projects director during Prof. Nyong’o’s first term in office.
Already, Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor has declared his bid to succeed Nyong'o with Senator Prof Tom Ojienda also in the race.
Besides the trio of Ruth, Prof Ojienda and Owuor, former Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura is also eyeing the seat.
