According to Gachagua, the MPs, led by the infamous Kimani Ichung’wah, expressed growing concerns about the political situation in Kiambu County and the broader Mount Kenya region.
The MPs, who have become increasingly frustrated with the rising influence of Governor Kimani Wamatangi, allegedly confronted Ruto over the ongoing efforts to popularize the DCP Party.
They were particularly alarmed by the success of Wamatangi’s public engagements, which they claimed were gaining momentum at the expense of the President’s political standing.
According to Gachagua, the MPs issued two hard-hitting demands as conditions to continue their support for Ruto.
The first demand was the immediate neutralization of Governor Wamatangi.
In an unprecedented move, the MPs called for the demolition of Wamatangi’s business premises located on Aerodrome Road in Nairobi, followed by criminal charges from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The accusations of fictitious economic crimes were presented as justification for these extreme measures.
The second demand revolved around the MP’s frustrations with the perceived lack of full police support to disrupt DCP Party meetings.
They urged Ruto to direct the Ministry of Interior to ensure that police, working alongside state-sponsored goons, would prevent any further DCP gatherings, especially within Kiambu County.
Initially, Ruto hesitated, warning that such drastic actions might backfire in the charged political climate leading up to the next elections.
However, the MPs remained firm, insisting that they would abandon Ruto’s camp unless their demands were met.
They further claimed that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior was already aligned with their views and was only awaiting orders from the President.
Cornered by his own allies, Ruto eventually yielded to the MPs’ demands.
As a result, Wamatangi’s business premises were demolished in a midnight operation involving hundreds of police officers.
Additionally, elite police squads are reportedly being formed to assist in curbing DCP meetings across the region.
Gachagua’s statement concluded with a sharp critique of Ruto’s political trajectory, claiming that the people of the mountain had already made their decision regarding his presidency.
He warned that betrayal in the region is unforgivable, and with growing unrest, Ruto may face an uphill battle in the 2027 elections.
For Governor Wamatangi, Gachagua offered his full support, urging him to stay focused and continue serving the people of Kiambu in the face of mounting challenges.
As the political landscape in the Mount Kenya region continues to evolve, all eyes will be on how these dramatic developments affect the course of Kenya’s 2027 general election.
