Malala Speaks On Rejoining UDA Amid Heated Speculations Of DCP Exit, States the Following

Former UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala has dismissed talk of returning to President William Ruto’s party with a bold demand. He said he would only work with the government if the victims killed during the 2024 Gen Z protests were brought back to life. The statement was shared through a video on X and it quickly drew national attention.

Malala said the deaths during the Gen Z demonstrations remain an open wound. He accused the government of ignoring families who lost loved ones during protests against the Finance Bill in June 2024. According to him justice cannot be selective and silence from leaders only deepens public pain.

The remarks came as rumors spread that Malala was planning to quit Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party. Some reports linked the claims to disagreements after the Malava by election. His absence from several party activities added fuel to the speculation.

Gachagua rejected the rumors and said Malala was unwell. He explained that his deputy had been battling a severe flu after attending the Malala Super Cup in Kakamega. He insisted Malala remains loyal and firm in his beliefs.

In the video Malala questioned how the state spends public money. He pointed at reports of cash handouts during presidential tours. He asked why funds seem available for politics yet families of protest victims struggle to get help or recognition.

Malala was removed from UDA in 2024 after falling out with party leaders. He later joined DCP in May 2025 as interim deputy leader. Since then he has played a key role in shaping the party plan ahead of the 2027 elections.

DCP has been positioning itself as an alternative force in national politics. The party has focused on county strategies and citizen driven policies. Malala has often spoken as one of its strongest voices against the current administration.

Political analysts say the demand was meant to end defection talk. They view it as a symbolic line that cannot be crossed. By setting an impossible condition Malala appears to reaffirm his stand while keeping pressure on the government.

Online reaction has been divided. Supporters praised his courage and consistency. Critics said the move was dramatic and aimed at publicity. With elections approaching Malala’s stance is expected to shape opposition politics in the months ahead.

Observers believe message may reshape loyalty trust and accountability in Kenyan politics today.
