According to Ngunyi, former president Uhuru Kenyatta is allegedly laying the groundwork to position his younger brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, for the presidency in the next decade.
Ngunyi claimed that Jubilee’s current presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i, is being used as a “decoy” to contest the 2027 election, with little expectation of victory.
He further alleged that Jeremiah Kioni’s demotion from secretary general to deputy party leader signalled the end of his political usefulness, while the elevation of Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta was a calculated decision to serve future interests.
“The plan is to have Matiang’i run and fail in 2027, weakening his political capital, then sell Muhoho Kenyatta to the public in 2032,” Ngunyi asserted.
The analyst also linked his claims to the widely reported December 2024 meeting between Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto at the former president’s Gatundu home.
While both leaders said the talks focused on national issues, media reports suggested deeper political discussions, including efforts to regain influence in the Mt Kenya region following the impeachment of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
At the time, rumours circulated that Muhoho could be appointed to Cabinet or even considered as Ruto’s running mate in 2027, though this never materialised.
Despite being part of one of Kenya’s most prominent political families, Muhoho Kenyatta has largely remained outside active politics.
Neither the Kenyatta family nor Jubilee Party officials have publicly responded to Ngunyi’s claims.
