In the most recent incident, a police officer was found dead inside his official residence at Ahero Police Station in Kisumu County in an incident that has raised concern within the security fraternity.
The deceased was identified as Constable Solomon Anukuri, who was attached to the station and had been on duty in the area.
Colleagues became alarmed after repeated attempts to reach him by phone went unanswered, prompting one officer to visit his house to check on his welfare.
Upon arrival the door was found locked from the inside, raising further concern among fellow officers.
Additional personnel were alerted and later managed to gain entry into the house, where the officer was found unresponsive.
Preliminary assessments by police indicated that there were no visible signs of a struggle inside the house.
Authorities also confirmed that no note was recovered at the scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death continue.
According to fellow officers, Constable Anukuri had previously shared concerns about stress linked to personal matters, though no formal report had been filed regarding his condition.
His death has renewed focus on the growing mental health challenges facing officers within the police service.
The body was transferred to a local mortuary where a postmortem examination is expected to establish the cause of death and provide further clarity.
Police commanders have assured the public and the officer's family that a thorough investigation is underway.
The incident comes at a time when the National Police Service has been encouraging officers to seek support for mental and emotional challenges as part of ongoing welfare reforms aimed at improving wellbeing within the force.
