Fred Okango, the Strategic Advisor to Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, has claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta's return to active politics is completely personal.
This comes at a time when Uhuru is being seen trying to use his position as the Jubilee Party Leader to strengthen the party in readiness for the 2027 general election.
Okango has claimed that the retired Head of State's real goal is to sideline DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua and ensure he doesn't get to determine how the region approaches the polls.
"I think Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent political reentry reflects an attempt to protect a legacy rather than provide policy direction," he said on Citizen TV's Daybreak show on Monday.
"Uhuru’s return to politics seems aimed at sidelining Gachagua and showing that his party is still a national force."
Jubilee has since indicated plans to fully participate in the 2027 elections, even naming former Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, it's presidential candidate.
