Chaos As Top Politician Given Beatings After He Was Allegedly Caught Red Handed Bribing At Polling Centre

Chaos erupted at Mung’ala Primary School polling centre on Thursday morning after former MCA Paul Museku was allegedly caught engaging in voter bribery, triggering anger among residents who descended on him with a ruthless beating, locally referred to as mburukenge.

According to witnesses, Museku was confronted by a group of voters who accused him of attempting to influence the ongoing by-election by handing out money to selected individuals near the school’s gate.

The tension quickly escalated as word spread across the polling centre, drawing a crowd that demanded immediate action.

Despite attempts by local authorities and security officers to calm the situation, the enraged residents surrounded the former ward representative, shouting him down before physically assaulting him.

Officers on duty swiftly intervened, rescuing Museku from the mob and escorting him to safety.

Election officials at the scene condemned the incident, stressing the need for peaceful and credible elections.

They also urged voters to report any malpractice through the proper channels instead of taking the law into their own hands.

Police have since confirmed that investigations into the alleged voter bribery claims have begun.

They noted that while the assault was unlawful, the accusations against Museku will also be probed thoroughly to determine whether he indeed attempted to compromise the electoral process.

Local leaders called for calm, warning that violence could jeopardize the transparency and legitimacy of the election.

Meanwhile, Museku is expected to record a statement with the police once he receives medical attention following injuries sustained during the attack.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions, with some residents insisting they were defending the integrity of the ballot, while others criticized the mob justice, saying due process must always prevail.
