Wazungu Pia Wanaiba? Questions As Pilot Earning Over KSh 29 Million Is Allegedly Caught Stealing Snacks At Airport

A British Airways captain has come under scrutiny after being accused of stealing food and drinks from the company’s headquarters despite earning a multi-million salary.

The pilot, who trains others to fly the Airbus A380, reportedly makes about £170,000 a year (nearly KSh 29 million).

According to insiders, the incident took place at the airline’s Waterside offices near Heathrow Airport.

Staff there rely on a self-service café that operates on trust, where workers are expected to scan and pay for their purchases.

CCTV footage, however, allegedly captured the senior pilot walking away with items without paying on several occasions.

The matter was taken up by management after the behavior was flagged.

Surprisingly, instead of facing dismissal, the captain received only a warning.

The outcome has caused discontent within the company, with many employees questioning whether discipline is applied fairly.

Staff argue that if a junior worker, such as a member of the cabin crew earning less than £30,000 annually, had committed the same act, the punishment would likely have been much harsher.

“It’s not just about stealing food. It’s about whether the rules apply equally to everyone,” one employee remarked.

The case has stirred wider debate about accountability in the aviation industry, where responsibility and trust are critical.

Some staff members feel the leniency undermines the values BA promotes, especially in roles tied directly to passenger safety.

Others have expressed frustration at the silence from senior management, who have yet to issue a formal statement.

Colleagues of the captain have reportedly given him the nickname

“The Great Plane Robber,” a mix of humor and criticism that highlights how the scandal has spread across staff networks. For many, however, the issue is no laughing matter.

This controversy comes as airlines worldwide are already dealing with concerns over safety and professionalism.

Recently, an Air Peace flight in Nigeria veered off the runway after both pilots tested positive for alcohol.

That case ended with immediate dismissals and reinforced the importance of discipline in aviation.

The contrasting outcomes have only added to frustrations among BA workers, who feel the company risks sending the wrong message by treating senior staff differently.

In a profession where precision and trust are non-negotiable, employees insist that fairness must come first.
