Mumias East MP Peter Salasya is once again in the spotlight after women accused him of being stingy.
The women alleged that despite his status as a legislator, he only gave them KSh 500 whenever they met him.
The accusations first appeared on social media platforms where anonymous posts detailed experiences with the outspoken politician.
Some of the women said they expected to be “pampered” but were left shocked by the small amount.
Others insisted that their friends had faced the same situation. The story quickly spread and ignited conversations online.
Salasya, who has built a reputation for mixing politics with humor, decided not to remain silent.
Through his own social media pages, he laughed at the allegations and asked the women to refund the KSh 500 if they felt it was too little.
His response, filled with emojis and jokes, immediately caught the attention of Kenyans who rushed to comment.
Online reactions were divided. A number of users argued that politicians should be more generous, especially since they hold powerful positions. Another group defended the MP, saying that no one has the right to complain about money they did not work for.
Many Kenyans simply treated the story as entertainment, making memes and jokes about “Salasya’s fare money.”
This is not the first time the youthful lawmaker has been at the center of discussions involving women.
He has openly stated in the past that he is looking for a wife and has welcomed advances from those interested.
Earlier, he introduced his young son to the public, a move that confirmed he is peacefully co-parenting while maintaining his single status.
Salasya has also crossed paths with celebrities. His online interaction with socialite Huddah Monroe became a hot topic after he sent her KSh 10,000.
Huddah dismissed the amount as “too little,” sparking an online quarrel that entertained Kenyans for days.
