How Farmhand Killed Elderly Molo Couple After Attending Church Together With Them

Residents of Elburgon in Molo, Nakuru County, are mourning the tragic death of an elderly couple believed to have been killed by their farm worker.

The victims, Pius Machogu, 72, and his wife, Jerusha Kwamboka, 70, were well-known in the community and active members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

According to neighbors, the couple had attended a church service with their farmhand the previous day before returning home together.

Trouble began when their livestock was seen wandering unattended on a nearby farm. Villagers grew concerned and tried to reach the couple but got no response.

Attempts to contact their farmhand raised more suspicion after he dismissed inquiries, claiming both he and his employers had gone to bed and did not want to be disturbed.

With growing worry, the family in Nairobi was alerted. Later that evening, residents, together with police officers, broke into the homestead.

Inside, they found the couple’s phones but no sign of the two. A search around the compound led to a shocking discovery—their bodies had been dumped inside a well.

The farmhand has since gone missing, and the househelp is also unaccounted for. Police have launched investigations and a manhunt for the suspects.

The late Mr. Machogu was described as a successful businessman with property in Nairobi, Kiambu, and parts of the Rift Valley. Community members say the couple was generous and deeply respected.

The news has left many Kenyans shaken, with condolences pouring in both online and offline. Some urged families to be extra cautious when hiring domestic workers and ensure proper background checks

Others expressed fear about the rising cases of attacks on elderly people living in rural areas.

“This is heartbreaking. Our parents need to be protected. We should call or visit them often to make sure they are safe,” one mourner said.

The couple’s children are expected to travel from Nairobi to join relatives and friends in funeral preparations.

Meanwhile, security officers have appealed to the public to share any information that may help trace the missing farmhand.
