President William Ruto has issued a strong warning to all individuals linked to the recent violent protests that left parts of the country in chaos.
Speaking on Saturday, July 12, 2025, during a public event in Simotwo, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Ruto made it clear that anyone involved in destroying property or inciting violence would be dealt with firmly.
The President condemned the recent protests that turned violent in towns such as Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, and Murang’a. Businesses were looted, vehicles were set on fire, and public infrastructure was vandalized, leaving residents and traders counting heavy losses.

The head of state described the destruction as a deliberate and organized attempt to disrupt peace and damage the economy.
According to him, this was not just an emotional reaction from angry citizens but a planned move sponsored by certain political figures.
“The law must be respected by everyone. Those who caused destruction, whether you are a normal citizen or a politician, we will find you and take action,” Ruto stated strongly.

He denied these allegations, saying that enforcing the law was not a political witch-hunt but a necessary action to protect Kenya’s future.
“Don’t call it persecution. If you break the law, you will be held accountable. That is the only way we can protect businesses and ensure safety for all Kenyans,” he added.
Ruto accused some leaders of taking advantage of unemployed youth by paying them to cause chaos and burn properties.
