“I Won’t Go Silent”: Uhuru Kenyatta Responds Firmly After Moses Wetang'ula Urges Him to Retire

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has broken his silence with a sharp response to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, who had advised him to step away from active politics and embrace a quieter statesman role ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Wetang’ula had urged Uhuru to follow the traditional path taken by many retired heads of state—keeping a low profile while promoting national unity from behind the scenes. However, Uhuru made it clear that such expectations will not define his post-presidency.

In his response, Uhuru dismissed the calls to retreat from public life, insisting that he still has a right to participate in national conversations.
