Widow of Johanna Ngeno Emerges as Early Favourite To Succeed Late Hubby In Emurua Dikirr Seat

Political activity in Narok County is beginning to intensify ahead of the anticipated Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election following the tragic death of area MP Johanna Ngeno.

The latest development comes after Njoroge Kururia publicly declared his support for the late MP’s widow, Nilanoi Ntuntu, urging residents to rally behind her as the preferred candidate to succeed her husband.

Kururia said Ntuntu understands the needs of the people of Emurua Dikirr and is well placed to continue the work started by her late husband.

His endorsement has quickly drawn national attention to the upcoming by-election, which is expected to attract strong political interest.

Speaking while expressing his support, Kururia highlighted the importance of leadership continuity in the constituency.

According to him, backing Ntuntu would help preserve the development agenda that the late MP had initiated before his untimely death.

“People of Emurua Dikirr know her well and understand her connection to the community,” Kururia said, adding that local unity would be key as the constituency prepares to elect a new representative.

The by-election was triggered after Johanna Ngeno died in a tragic plane crash on February 28, 2026.

His sudden death shocked many residents in Narok County and left a significant political gap in the constituency he had been representing.

Calls for Ntuntu to take up her husband’s political mantle have also been supported by members of Ngeno’s family.

His mother, Mary Temas, earlier appealed to the community to ensure the parliamentary seat remains within the family.

Speaking during funeral proceedings, Temas praised her late son’s dedication to serving the people of Emurua Dikirr and expressed confidence that the family could continue his legacy.

She noted that Ngeno’s children are educated and capable of upholding the values he stood for.

Nilanoi Ntuntu also comes from a prominent political background in Narok County. She is linked to the influential Ntutu family, which has produced several leaders in the region, including Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu.

Her potential candidacy has therefore generated significant interest among local leaders and residents, many of whom believe the race could combine family legacy, community influence, and political alliances.

Political observers say the endorsement by Kururia could shape early momentum in the race as various leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the by-election.

As preparations continue, the contest for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat is expected to attract both experienced politicians and new entrants seeking to represent the constituency.

For now, the focus remains on whether Nilanoi Ntuntu will officially declare her bid and how the electorate will respond to calls for her to continue the legacy of her late husband.
