Bodyguard Betrayal: How a Man Rescued From Poverty Is Accused in the Killing of MP Ong’ondo Were

The shocking murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were continues to send waves of disbelief across the country, especially after investigators linked some of the suspects to individuals who were once very close to the late lawmaker.

Among them is Allan Omondi Ogolla, the MP’s personal bodyguard and a man whose life story is closely tied to Were himself.

Allan was not just a security officer assigned to protect the legislator. He was also a relative of the late MP and someone whose life had reportedly changed dramatically because of Were’s kindness.

According to people familiar with their relationship, Allan once lived a difficult life in the village where he struggled to survive by burning charcoal.

His life took a different direction after Ong’ondo Were stepped in to help him. Out of goodwill and compassion, the MP assisted Allan in securing an opportunity to join the police service.

The support did not end there. Once Allan became a police officer, Ong’ondo Were trusted him even more and eventually made him his personal bodyguard.

It was a position that required loyalty, discipline and absolute trust because a bodyguard is expected to protect their principal with their life.

For years, the two appeared to share a close relationship, with the MP believing he had uplifted someone from hardship and given him a stable future.

But the ongoing investigations into the MP’s brutal killing have painted a disturbing picture that few could have imagined.

Detectives now suspect that Allan may have played a role in the carefully planned assassination that ended the life of the very man who helped him escape poverty.

Reports from investigators suggest that the alleged betrayal may have been motivated by money. It is claimed that the bodyguard was given Ksh.80,000 as part of the plot that led to the deadly attack.

If proven true in court, the amount represents a tragic contrast between the opportunities he was given and the price allegedly paid for the betrayal.

Police investigations have already led to the arrest of several suspects linked to the murder. According to reports, Allan and the MP’s driver were arrested during a night operation in Nairobi as detectives intensified their probe.

Authorities believe the killing was part of a well-coordinated plan involving multiple individuals. Some suspects reportedly revealed details that linked the bodyguard and driver to the criminal network responsible for the assassination.

Detectives also recovered firearms and other items believed to have been used during the attack.

Mobile phones belonging to the suspects were confiscated to help investigators trace financial transactions and communication records that could shed more light on the plot.

If found guilty, Allan now faces the possibility of losing not only his job as a police officer but also his freedom. The case serves as a painful reminder of how betrayal can destroy both the victim and the person responsible.

Beyond the investigation, the story has sparked deep reflection among many Kenyans. It highlights the importance of loyalty and gratitude, especially towards people who have helped shape one’s life.

Before taking any action that could harm someone who once supported you, it is always important to think about the consequences. Decisions made in a moment can destroy a future that took years to build.
