“When the Sun Sets, Africa Shall Rise to Its Glory”: Wife of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi Shares Emotional Account of His Final Words

Emotional claims attributed to the family of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi have stirred debate and reflection across social media, after a statement circulated online describing what were said to be his final words before the incident that reportedly led to his death.

According to the account, his wife, identified as Ummar, recalled a deeply personal conversation that took place two nights before the tragic event. 

In the statement, she said her husband spoke about the dangers he believed were closing in on him and reflected on the fate of his father, Libya’s former leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed in 2011 during the uprising that ended his four-decade rule.

She recounted that Saif al-Islam allegedly told her he felt that the same forces that brought down his father were now pursuing him, and that he sensed his time might be near. 

He is also said to have expressed sadness that, in his view, many truths about Libya’s past and the Gaddafi family might never be fully known.

In the emotional recollection attributed to her, she quoted him as saying that history would one day reveal what had been hidden, and that the struggles faced by his family would not be the end of their story. 

He reportedly spoke of faith and the hope of meeting the Holy Prophet, expressing belief that future generations would continue to emerge across Africa inspired by ideas of unity and independence.

Supporters of the Gaddafi family have interpreted the words as a message of hope for the continent’s future, linking them to Muammar Gaddafi’s long-standing advocacy for African unity and self-reliance. 

During his rule, the former Libyan leader frequently promoted the vision of stronger political and economic cooperation among African states, including proposals for a single currency and shared institutions.

However, reactions to the circulating statement have been mixed. While some have expressed sympathy and admiration, others have urged caution, noting that many details surrounding the reported incident involving Saif al-Islam remain unclear or unverified. 

Analysts also point out that Libya’s ongoing political divisions often give rise to competing narratives, making it difficult to separate confirmed facts from speculation.
