The dramatic incident occurred after the suspects reportedly blocked a man who was driving within the town and heading to Nakuru for an impromptu meeting.
According to police, the attackers beat the victim before stealing his laptop and a smartwatch valued at approximately KSh300,000.

“They harassed him at a roadblock and stole his laptop plus a smartwatch worth KSh300,000 from the victim. We were able to respond promptly following a tip-off from two riders who ply the same route,” said one of the security officers involved in the operation.

Kericho County Police Commander confirmed the incident, stating that the two suspects are believed to have travelled from Nakuru County and were heading into Kericho town for what police suspect was a planned robbery mission.
“Our officers acted quickly after receiving credible information from members of the public. Upon confronting the suspects, a confrontation ensued, leading to the fatal shooting of the two individuals,” he said.
At the scene, officers recovered three Ceska pistols, each loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition. The weapons are believed to have been used in previous criminal activities, although investigations are still ongoing to establish their origin and whether the suspects were linked to other robberies within the region.
The injured victim was rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital for emergency treatment after sustaining injuries during the attack. Hospital sources indicated that he was in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
Residents of Kericho town expressed mixed reactions following the incident, with some praising the police for their quick response while others called for thorough investigations to ensure justice is served.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to a local mortuary in Kericho town pending identification and further investigations.
Police have urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, noting that community support played a crucial role in foiling the robbery and preventing further harm.
