"Tokeni Ama Tuwatoe"ODM Youth Challenge Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna to Leave Party

During a meeting held at a Nairobi hotel on January 21, 2026, a section of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youth wing challenged Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to leave the party and form their own political group.

The meeting was attended by ODM delegate Kasmuel McOure, who was flanked by ODM Kajiado County Youth Coordinator Mwalimu Julius and ODM Youth Advocate for Nairobi County Roseline Alionya.

The youth leaders were firm in their message, arguing that party unity should be protected and that leaders who create division should be free to leave.

The youth wing accused Babu Owino and Sifuna of causing internal conflicts and disrupting the party’s cohesion.

They said such behaviour was not helpful, especially as the party prepares for future elections.

The youth leaders insisted that ODM should remain strong and united, and that those who disagree with party decisions should not weaken the party from within.

Kasmuel McOure and the other youth leaders emphasized that ODM is a big party with clear values and a long history of fighting for the rights of Kenyans.

They said the party has a strong leadership structure, and that it should not be influenced by individuals who are seen as seeking attention or personal gain.

The youth leaders also urged members to focus on the party’s goals and to support its agenda.

They said ODM has a duty to serve the people and to provide a clear alternative to the government, especially on issues affecting citizens such as the cost of living, unemployment, and governance.

During the meeting, the youth wing also called on all ODM members to respect the party’s decisions and leadership.

They warned that any actions that threaten unity would not be accepted. The youth leaders said that ODM’s strength lies in its ability to work together and to present a united front.
