Kenya Met Warns Of Heavy Rainfall In These Regions That Might Cause Floods, Check If It's Yours

Even though most parts of the country will continue being sunny and dry, several regions are expected to receive occasional rainfall in the next five days, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.

In its weekly forecast covering Tuesday, January 20, and Saturday, January 24, the department stated that some counties, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu, Kisumu, Baringo, and West Pokot, among others, may experience rainfall in the early days of the week.

Other counties, such as Mombasa, Marsabit, and Turkana, will also experience strong Northeasterly to Southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots.

Rains and showers accompanied by thunderstorms are set to hit Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties the whole of Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. The rest of the week will be sunny.

During this period, the maximum temperatures in these counties are expected to reach 31°C, while the minimum will be 7°C.

Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties will experience sunny conditions; however, these regions might experience showers on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

The weatherman predicts that the maximum temperatures in these areas will hit 29°C, with a minimum of 7°C.

Sunny and dry conditions will prevail in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, throughout the week, according to the forecast.

The maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 32°C, while the minimum will be 14°C.

Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, are also expected to experience sunny conditions during the forecasted period.

These counties are expected to record maximum temperatures of 34°C and minimum temperatures of 23°C.

Residents of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties will experience sunny and dry conditions for the next five days. The maximum temperatures in these counties are set to hit 38°C, while the minimum will hit 16°C.

According to the weatherman, Turkana and Samburu counties can expect day-long sunny conditions and partly cloudy conditions. The forecast predicts maximum temperatures of 38°C and minimum temperatures of 17°C in these counties.
