In a statement shared on Friday, January 23, Governor Wanga described the appointment as a recognition of Dr. Odinga’s lifelong commitment to service, humility, and dedication.
She praised the nominee for her unwavering support of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, highlighting the strength, compassion, and quiet leadership she demonstrated throughout her life.
“Canon Dr. Ida Betty Odinga; congratulations on your nomination as Kenya’s Ambassador/Permanent Representative to UNEP.
This moment affirms the values you have lived and served by for so many years,” Wanga said.
She added that Dr. Odinga’s service remains an inspiration to many and thanked President Ruto for conferring the prestigious honour.
Governor Wanga also extended her congratulations on behalf of her family, the people of Homa Bay, and the wider ODM family.
