Governor Cecily Mbarire Allegedly Diverts KSHs 10Million Meant for County Projects to Political Function

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has admitted redirecting KSh 10 million from an industrial park project to start a boda boda SACCO.

On January 28, 2026, the Governor, appearing before a Senate audit committee, acknowledged using the funds.

Senators questioned her decision, expressing concern over funding personal projects instead of a public project benefiting residents.

The Governor allegedly held a political function supporting Boda-boda Operation, attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and other leaders.

She urged Embu residents to vote for President William Ruto in the upcoming elections, citing development in the area.

Governor Mbarire criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for disrespecting disagreeing leaders.

Gachagua responded that President Ruto will serve for WanTam and that Mount Kenya residents will unite.

He also called on Kenyans to support the United Opposition in the upcoming general elections.

According to Gachagua, the opposition will front one candidate who will face the President.
