Chaos Erupt In Nairobi As Police Attack And Force Residents To Evacuate This Area, Details

Governor Johnson Sakaja has raised concern over the unfolding situation in Mukuru kwa Njenga, where residents are facing forced evictions and confrontations with the police. He stated that the county government is deeply troubled by reports of people being attacked as security officers move in to clear the area.

According to the governor, police have used teargas against residents, creating panic and fear among families who have lived in the area for years. Women, children, and the elderly have been affected, with many forced to flee their homes without clear information on where to go or what comes next.

Sakaja emphasized that the Nairobi County Government prefers dialogue over force. He said the current approach risks escalating tensions and causing unnecessary suffering. The county’s position is that any redevelopment or public works in Mukuru kwa Njenga must be handled in a humane and lawful manner.

The governor explained that compensation is the best way to de-escalate the situation. He noted that residents should not be treated as obstacles to development but as citizens whose rights and dignity must be respected. Proper compensation, planning, and engagement can allow projects to move forward without violence or chaos
