What Police Officers Found Inside the Shop of the Husband of KDF Lieutenant Who Was Brutally Killed

Police in Migori have revealed what they recovered inside the shop belonging to the husband of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Second Lieutenant Cynthia Awuor Mboya, who was brutally murdered while home for the Christmas holidays.

Lieutenant Mboya, a 28-year-old officer stationed at Gilgil Barracks, was found dead in her bedroom at their home in Nyahera Village, Suna East Sub-county, on Christmas Eve.

Her body had visible injuries, prompting immediate investigations by security agencies.

According to police, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) conducted a search at the husband’s shop located at Cool Plaza in Migori town as part of ongoing inquiries.

During the operation, officers recovered a machete (panga) bearing red stains, which investigators believe could be linked to the killing.

The weapon has since been taken for forensic analysis to establish whether it was used in the murder.

The search followed the arrest of three suspects, including the deceased officer’s husband, her mother-in-law and her brother-in-law.

Migori County Police Commander Samuel Boit confirmed that the suspects are being held to assist with investigations as police piece together events leading to the officer’s death.

Police reports indicate that the husband was the one who raised the alarm after allegedly returning home from Migori town in the early hours of the morning and finding the house doors open.

He claimed to have discovered his wife’s body in the bedroom and immediately informed local authorities.

Further searches at the couple’s home led to the recovery of clothing believed to have been worn by the husband on the night of the incident.

Officers also noted that two mobile phones belonging to the deceased were missing.

Lieutenant Mboya’s body was taken to Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to shed more light on the cause of death.

Investigations into the tragic killing are ongoing.
