What Next as Environmentalist Truphena Muthoni Sets New World Tree-Hugging Record ​​

Young environmentalist Truphena Muthoni has made history by setting a new world record for hugging a tree continuously for 72 hours at the Nyeri County Governor’s office.

The 22-year-old undertook this marathon effort to break her previous record of 48 hours. 

During the attempt, she braved rainy nights, cold temperatures, and minimal food, demonstrating remarkable endurance and commitment to environmental activism.

A large crowd gathered to support Muthoni, cheering her on and offering gifts as a token of admiration. 

She received monetary donations, a high-end smartphone, and even an all-expenses-paid holiday in recognition of her extraordinary effort.

After completing the 72-hour challenge, Muthoni was immediately taken by ambulance for health checks and proper nourishment, as she had spent three days without adequate food while holding onto the tree.

The record-breaking attempt is now being documented according to Guinness World Records guidelines. 

Muthoni and her team are compiling evidence, including witness statements, timekeeper logs, and surveyor reports. 

Once the Guinness Records Management Team verifies the submissions, she will be officially recognized as the world record holder for the longest continuous tree hug.

This achievement is not only a personal triumph but also a symbol of silent activism. Muthoni used the marathon hug to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting trees and forests in Kenya.

Supporters from all walks of life traveled to Nyeri to witness the record attempt and offer encouragement. 

Many stayed overnight, showing solidarity and sharing the message of environmental protection with the broader community.

Governor Mutahi Kahiga was present during the attempt, acknowledging Muthoni’s commitment and applauding her determination to inspire young people toward environmental stewardship.

Once Guinness officially confirms the record, Muthoni hopes her accomplishment will motivate others to engage in creative forms of environmental activism and raise awareness about the importance of protecting Kenya’s natural resources.

Her dedication demonstrates that individual action, even in small or unusual ways, can inspire widespread awareness and spark community engagement.
