Moses Nyaure, a middle-aged man from the quiet village of Kawino, met his tragic end in a way no one could have foreseen. 

On the night in question, he and his close friend, Sadam Songa, had spent the evening drinking and making merry at a local bar. 

By a twist of fate, both of their motorbikes had faulty ignition systems—machines that could start even without much fuss.

As the night wore on and the drink took its toll, Moses mistakenly rode off on his friend Sadam’s motorbike, believing it to be his own. It was an honest mistake—one made in the heat of the moment after a long night of revelry. His own motorbike remained parked at the bar’s lot, unnoticed.

When Sadam sobered up enough to realize that his bike was missing and Moses’s bike stood abandoned where they had parked, he flew into a rage. Instead of giving his friend the benefit of the doubt, he hit the panic button. In a moment of clouded judgment, Sadam mobilized a group of his friends from Kisumu, convinced that Moses had deliberately stole his motorbike.

Under the cover of night, the group stormed Moses’s home. They found the motorbike parked right outside—clear evidence, in their eyes, of a supposed betrayal. Without stopping to ask questions or get the full picture, they took the law into their own hands and descended on Moses with brute force.

By the time neighbors intervened and rushed Moses toward the hospital, the damage had already been done. He breathed his last on the way, a victim of a misunderstanding that spiraled wildly out of control.
