Investigations into the final days of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo have revealed new details about his private life away from his family.
Detectives established that in the period leading up to his death, the veteran politician was not residing with any of his four wives despite maintaining contact with them.
According to findings made public after his fatal road accident in mid-December 2025, Jirongo had been living in Nairobi under the care of two close aides.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirmed that he shared the residence with his personal driver and his chef, who remained with him throughout his last days.
The house where he stayed was not his own but belonged to a long-time political ally who reportedly offered him accommodation as he dealt with personal and financial difficulties.
The residence was located in the leafy Gigiri area, an ironic detail given that one of his family homes was also situated in the same neighbourhood.
Investigators noted that Jirongo had chosen a quiet and low-profile life as he attempted to reorganise himself after years of financial strain that saw several of his assets auctioned.
Despite the challenges, he was said to be optimistic and actively planning a return to stability.
Family sources indicated that although he lived separately, Jirongo maintained communication with his wives and children and remained hopeful that his fortunes would improve.
His death brought renewed public interest in his complex family life and the dramatic rise and fall of a man who once wielded immense political influence.
The findings by investigators have helped clarify speculation surrounding his final days while painting the picture of a fallen power broker supported by a small trusted circle until his death.
